Misadventures, what Beyond the Tree once was before being rebooted, started here with the dark strand cult. The events and emphasis were completely different then, with the main source of humour being Tiny’s dry narration on how annoying it was when the world dropped the proverbial anvil on your head. Personally, I think this iteration works better, really.

To be fair, it’s actually anti-old-god propaganda if anything. Though I think the original reference (as in, the one Blizzard makes) might go as far back as one of the incarnations of Warhammer, or simply be a play on familiar stereotypes.
“This is scheisse racism, go and die with this nightelf propaganda!” Uh, no, I’m pretty sure that comment was the only racism visible. The elf seems to be an equal-opportunity killer.
