Designing the Shredder encounter was an odd experience; I went into it mainly with the two objectives: first wanting it to be the first battle in long where the point was actually the challenge – I think the last one where I had that intention was with Aku’mai. Secondly, I knew how I wanted it to end. Everything between was largely just a long string of attacks and counters – why doesn’t that character do this, and then coming up with a reason why not; forcing the chain of events down to where I want it to be. The engine is hot to prevent Hani from climbing up the back and ending it right there; Areen’s shield is thrown aside to keep her out of the battle for a page. Essentially how to keep it going without having to hand out the idiot ball.

Heh. Two Words…Fastball Special. Wish you could do something like that in the live game. it’d make life so much fun for gnomes.
Ah beat me to it.
Definatly awesome there Nhani, very awesome.
This is truly the work of a genius =P.
Makes me smile =).
Keep it up!
Ha! The only weak spot of the shredder: Sneed himself!
How to reach the Goblin? Simple, do some Gnome throwing. Absolutely brilliant, Nhani. :D
Sneed’s perplexed expression made me laugh out loud. ;)
Epiq, absolutely epiq :D
Sneed’s facial expression in the second-to-last panel.
Priceless. Truly priceless.
I’ve wanted to do that to a Gnome for so long……
Awesome. Simply Awesome.
You need to make an alt version of this where she bubbles and she gets kicked up like a football.
punting gnomes FTW!!
Areen’s face is PRICELESS in the 5th panel. Any chance we can get a bigger version of it?
Gnome punting =^,^=
Who knows, warriors may get that skill in cataclysm someday.
I support this suggestion.
Amazing ideea with this page, must say I didn’t see it coming :)
Wait, Hani can throw a plate-clad gnome 15 feet with pinpoint accuracy using *one arm*? That is one scary warrior woman :O
Though, that’s not a criticism – I think the “long string of attacks and counters” actually worked well to get the fight to this scene. While gnome-tossing is not perhaps the most obvious solution to the problem, I think the comic did a good job of showing how all the more obvious alternatives worked out and then led to this spur-of-the-moment gnome lob.
Love the goblin’s expression in the second last panel :]
To be honest, I actually spent a fair bit of time trying to think of just how to make the throw work in my head, thus why it’s an underhanded throw. The reasoning being that unlike an overhanded throw where you basically have to supply the entirety of the force yourself, an underhanded throw lets you use inertia to supply extra force by using your arm as a pendulum, with the shoulder as a pivot.
..And yet this is the comic that stars Tiny, the shrunk night elf! Why am I even thinking about this! Dx Curse you physics, curse youuuuuuuuu~!
I do so love the 5-6 transition, Areen’s all, “What the hell, man?! Not cool!”
Goblin goes thunk.
Gnomes do not approve of being tossed by night elves!
Sneed: “What the fu…”
As allready stated, priceless :P
And GNOMETOSSIN’! :D
“Toss me.”
“.. What?”
“I cannea jump the distance, so y’ll have t’toss me!”
*Sly Grin*
“Just eh, don’ tell the elf.”
Ahem.
Yes, Sneed’s face is quite priceless.
Pwnage, epic, genius… What else can you say about it? Gnome-tossing FTW!!! *thunk* Imagine how many times each one of us has killed Sneed over the years, he knows what to expect,he thinks he’s seen every possible way of killing him, but then along comes our lovable bunch of outcasts and they toss a gnome at Sneed. His face says it all in the 2nd last panel =D
So that’s how they were gonna reach him…
I do love Sneed’s “…Wait, wut?” expression as his brain catches up with the fact a shield is about to say “Hi! How’s it going?” to his face. With the extra weight of a gnome in plate armour behind it.
Win all round.
I play a Gnome warrior. Best part of it is the sound my shield makes when I introduce it to someone. *clank* heh.
*applauds very loudly* WHOO-HOO! Now that was cool!
Between the lol value of this page and the utter awesome that is Areen smacking the chops off of Sneed…as some of the guys in the Guard would say, this is so full of Win.
Funny thing to note: There’s two “WTF?!” looks in this panel. Areen’s “WTF?! I’m lifted?!” look and then Sneed’s “WTFAFLYINGGNOME?!” look.
Awesome strip…so many good points all I can say is pure awesomesauce!!!
Did NOT see this coming. Just like Areen.
Hani still needs some scars tho D:
HAH!! I called that! Way back when, remember?
THis i really did’t expect! but its welcome nontheless!! about the same lvl as puching Staghelm hehehe
just 1 thing that bothered me a little, why was’t Tiny throwed??? i mean, she’s even smaller(or was that the reason?) so her with a tiny dagger would have done about the same, then again, considering WoW players have been making jokes and movies about gnome throwning i can imagine that u could’t resist either ;)
Not that we mind as u can see in the comments :)
Gnome Thrust
30 yd range
Instant
Requires Gnome Paladin
Throws the Gnome Paladin at the target, dealing damage equal to 10% of the Gnome Paladin’s armor plus block rating and knocks the target silly for 1 minute.
Alliance toss a gnome.
Horde punts ‘em. *kek*
Imagine a tauren punting a gnome off the top rise in TB… That gnome would have a 1 way ticket back to Gnomeregan xD
I knew this would end up happening xD
The best way to toss something heavy is to let gravity do it for you, ergo, mass abuse centrifugal force by spinning around. Of course, the risk of Hani throwing our gnome paladin into the saw blade rather then up to Sneed increases, but that’s life :3
Come to think of it, In X-men comics, Wolverine and Colossus also got a attack were Logan is tossed, claws first, into some direction by Colossus. This is kinda their Duo-attack :P … maybe thats just what we are seeing here! the creation of a new co-co-co-COMBO attack ;)
I kinda said that in the first post. Fastball Special.
Blizzard should really add an annual gnome toss holiday. Kinda like brewfest. But with gnomes. Yesh.
As long as we get the choice to toss goblins instead. I fancied decapitating their heads and kicking them away like a football more than once.
Oh, hey, the crushed goblin doesn’t seem to be here anymore.
He’s actually still there, just none of the panes really have it in frame. In the first pane he’s hidden behind Hani’s legs, and in the eight pane he’s just under the pane edge – the Shredder is in the process of taking a step forward so he’s under and slightly behind the foot. There’s a tiny spot of green detail just under the heel if you look carefully.
So he’s still there, just the panes and shot angles don’t really frame him anywhere ;)
