So after a good two and a half days of doing little else, I’ve finally completed the entire VanCleef battle sequence – I’m not telling you how many pages it is, you’ll have to wait and see, but suffice it to say it has a fair bit of work behind it, so hopefully it’ll make for an interesting set. While I still typically resent extensive choreography work (chore is in there for a reason, I’d suspect), I did like putting together some of the character moments and exchanges that happen throughout it.
Of course, VanCleef had to drop the cloak to fight – the thing is way too cumbersome, both in terms of weight and in terms of posing – the battle sequence would easily have taken me twice as long to pose if I’d had the cloak to bother with. I do think it provides a sense that the gloves are now off, though.

Ah the epic fight begins! I cant wait to see more of it!
EEP
oooo excited… I hope he wins.. or escapes :p *shy* im a fan cant help it!
one word…
WHOOOOOOOOOOO!
Yeah! Badass cape drop!
Last panel is totally awesome.
And cue epic battle music. *starts theme from Mortal Combat*
TEST YOUR MIGHT!
EXCELLENT!
For some reason, I always kept hearing it as “Mortal Wombat”..
lol this is epic,
EDWIN FTW!
I love panel #7 best, but #8 promises an awful lot of fun :)
… 2 senarios…
1: Weget an epic battle betweel the two, lasting 1 or 2 pages!
2: Dou to his last statement, it would be obvious if hani just one-shots him :P
Either way, epic incomming!
There’s a third option, a monumental secret hidden in.. er.. yeah. Anyway.. it’s a secret you have to discover for yourself.
I cant help but add a score from John Williams.
Alright Vancleef, let’s dance, get you some!
Two words: Ariel’s Lament.
Nhani, could i convince you to make a “random” render with Edwin and his sexy cloak? always been such a fan of him and his voice, and your add of cloak just makes him even more awesome <3
Shouldn’t be too hard, would just need to think of a good pose and context (and lighting). And be on a day when I don’t feel like I’m about to collapse into some hibernating state.
I kinda want Hani to lose.
Several reasons.
First, all the battle up till now have been lolsauce easy. It’ll be good to see some fights that aren’t one hits.
Our group has no motivation to fight VC; he ran off and the guards are down. Now’s the time to leave.
Hani just did something paramountly dumb; she let the bad guy pull her away from the group. Never leave your wingman, Maverick!
Hani and/or someone else getting seriously wounded would give Te’len a chance to do something besides being a Tiny perch / bait.
I think “holy fuck, get out of here now while we can” makes a better ending then “What the hell was that guy’s deal? Oh well, now we get to walk back the way we came” makes a better ending to the Deadmine Chronicles. Plus, there’s that convenient beach exit right there for a fast escape.
But that’s just me.

Boosh!
No? Too cartoony? Hmm, gee, I don’t think I have anything that might be more…
HOLY CRAP YES I DO!! Give that on a few minutes to really get going and blow your face off.
I think they do have a motive: it seems well established than VC is doing bad things and is, in some way, responsible for what happened to the Dwarven Miners. At the end of the day Hani, Te, Areen and even Tiny are Heros: they’ll try to stop him for the same reason they tried to stop the bandits on the road. I’m anticipating an epic struggle though ^^
Hmm kind’a bad quality on that music file you linked there though – here’s the HQ version:
And yes, it does have quite a kick, but it could be better – although cba browsing every combat theme there is.
The fidelity is better in your link, to be sure, but it’s like someone leaned on the equalizer sliders and turned the bass off. T_T
After some link surfing, this one seems to have a good common ground between richness and clarity.
I’ll also raise you a Back to Mad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4YKNsNVFic though to be honest, the full version is about two and a half minutes too long. Also, I’d suggest ignoring the video itself; it’s pretty spazzy.
Awesome! Btw whats that small purple thing in the first window?
It’s one of the Defias cronies slumped over the railing – you can see the backside of him in the the first pane of #213
Okay, sh** just got real!
I love how he’s so far had this whole “larger-than-life, powerful and charismatic” thing going on…and then in the last panel you see how much shorter he is than Hani. Napoleonic complex, maybe? Hmmm? Hee hee…
Can’t wait to see how this pans out!
*pops some popcorn*
Love the last pane. lighting looks awesome and so do the poses with Hani seeming a bit surprised by van Cleef’s sudden jump.
