One of the themes I felt stood out in Hani Foonmall versus Edwin VanCleef was inevitability – Edwin can’t let the group go because of what they’ve done, and what they – to him – represent; he has to deal with them, he can’t just let it slide. Hani is in a similar position – VanCleef made her case for her, and confronted with all that she has to act, not even counting how he’s systematically spent all this time convincing her of just how badly he needs to die.
The unstoppable force meets the immovable object – neither of them can bend due to their respective natures, yet one of them has to for the situation to be resolved.

I like how the ‘Bonk’ sound accompanies the plot device that ultimately trips Van Cleef. It is a bit ironic that Hani and Van Cleef stood toe to toe against each other, and then a rather irrelevant object with an even more irrelevant sound comes and shuts him up.
And when the Unstoppable Force meets the Immovable Object, Chuck Norris dies.
I found it even more amusing if you consider that said object actually has this rather prominent fist symbol emblazoned on it.
The punch is thrown! ..eh.. literally speaking?
That was my initial thought as well…not about the “punch being thrown” (good call!) but about the fist, and how it just seemed so…apropos! :-)

You silly geese, she’s using Avenger’s Shield. A talent at the bottom of the protection paladin tree that not only hits three targets, but silences them and puts them in a daze for a few seconds.
Looks like Nhani’s following game lore as well. I approve.
Actually, expect for the odd nod (like this), I tend to largely avoid too many callbacks to game mechanics – the mechanics themselves are at best a far removed abstraction, and at worst completely arbitrary.
You don’t have to read that many quest texts to realize that players normally exist in a completely different reality from the rest of the world through simply being able to do things that the world itself treats as either highly unlikely or extremely impossible.
That said, that won’t stop me from being able to say that, say, Areen clearly hasn’t put any points in Shield of the Templar because her mighty shield throw clearly didn’t silence him sufficiently. I’m just wary about doing so in case someone starts trying to think of the characters in terms of player mechanics and talent trees.
