..or is it?
Now with Cataclysm out and about, I’ve found myself in a position where I can look at where Blizzard decided to take the events from vanilla World of Warcraft and compare that to where I decided to take Beyond the Tree and more fully gauge the differences. What parts might go the same way, what parts might not.. there are both advantages and disadvantages to it, and it’ll be interesting to see what the response will be like, further down the line.

Cliffhanger!
Oh snap! It’s a ransom note to Areen that they’ve captured Areen’s Lightsworn Priestess twin sister!
To the rescue!!
“What? No! We were looking for Edward McCleft! Oh my god, what have you done!?”
Like someone else stated before, you can have a second copy of WoW on your computer, you just don’t patch it. Might be a little bit tricky to make WoW map viewer to use that certain copy, but it is possible.
Great page as always.
Look sir, we found another Mcguffin!
‘Uhm UHM, according to this thing, Cookie was the mastermind behind the whole thing.’
Ah yes.. the unsent letters.
Onto Duskwood!
Spider legs.
Yummy!
As former vanilla player, and one that knows his story lines, I must add a little note… Stoutmantle and VanCleef were childhood frieds. For the total picture it doesn’t matter though, still a great story.
Keep it up!
Actually, no – Gryan Stoutmantle and Edwin VanCleef has little to do with one another beyond their mutual – but opposite – interest in the state of Westfall. The person you’re thinking of is Mathias Shaw, leader of the SI:7 – who wasn’t only Edwin’s childhood friend, but also the person who taught him his skills in combat, stealth and assassination.
In fact, in the old vanilla quest line leading to the kill VanCleef quest includes a stop by Shaw to find out who’s behind it all. The way the quest line goes, it’s implied that Gryan knows of Edwin, but never knew him personally.
I toyed for a bit with having Gryan recognize Edwin’s face rather than being told the name, but ultimately it felt like it’d be a little too much a stretch.
Ah yeah, you’re right… It’s been too long I guess. Very well, excuse me for making a useless interruption =). I remember my old visit’s to SI:7 a little better now.
Nevertheless, keep it up! Would be a shame to miss it =)
P.S. Wonder why I messed up those 2… couldn’t have been a match in appearance, that’s for sure!
“Well? What does it read?”
“It’s some kind of manuscript. ‘Our first day went as well as one can expect first days to go. Most of our time was preoccupied with making the necessary arrangements to establish a base camp. I located an ideal setting by a freshwater river inlet. Judging by the old, abandoned docks nearby, this site was inhabited sometime ago. As for the original inhabitants, only time can tell that tale.’ There appear to be some pages missing though.”
Win.
Cant wait for the next page :D
I realy do love ur work, its beyond amazing :d
