You know, Water effects is one of those things that’s still difficult for actual professional 3D artists, and I’m just a novice hobbyist. Yeah.. it could be better. Ahem.
The journey through Auberdine is something that I’ve planned and re-planned quite a few times – there’s a careful balance to strike between risking confrontations and letting the protagonists actually put a few thoughts into avoiding attention. It gets more complicated when there’s only a limited set of backdrops available that everything has to somehow be worked around, for better or worse. The last iteration actually only solidified this friday, so we’ll have to see if I can actually stick to that or I’ll have to alter it again to work around the backdrop problem.

Also, can’t you get an older version of the game, not update it at all, and use a map viewer from the older version to get the proper backdrops? or am I completely off the ball?
While that might work with Warcraft III, etc. I’m pretty sure you can’t even log in to a new account unless you do the updates that will include the Cata changes.
You could download the client illegally from any number of sites, and just pretend you had those shots all along.
There are model viewers and map viewers that don’t need you to log into the servers to use. it *should* be possible to just install a second copy un-updated from vanilla, and use the old map viewers to get the shots you need.
I played around with Bryce *mumble* years ago. Yeah, water splashes are hard as heck to do. I just gave up and masked in a photo of one with Photoshop.
Heh, yeah, that’s one way to travel. And faster than waiting for the boat to dock :3

Who ever waited till the boat docked at Auberdine. Even with your Epic mount it was faster to swim to shore. Also avoided any nasty suprises like an entire raid of horde waiting there to jump on the ship and in the process turn you into elf paste.
