#37 – “Clerical Error”

And the plot thickens.

I tried to make Delgren the Purifier look better this time around compared to last we saw him. Both with texture and overall ability to express himself. The ability to actually look in various directions can’t be understated – if I come to revise the models of Hani and Tiny, that’s likely something I’ll try to include somehow.

Lighting did seem to end up a little odd in this page. In hindsight I shoud’ve planned the locations of fires better. In times like this I wish I rendered with background rather than adding the background seperately later on. No helping it so far, unfortunately.

For the record, night elf in dress and tabard is a cameo. No, I’m not telling you who she is. If you recognize her, great. If you don’t, it won’t matter ;)

First thing that I said to myself when I saw panel #2 was “WOW, Delgren definitely looks a _whole_ lot better!” Well done!

    :)

Though, in game, I always thought he looked rather funny anyway. He’s dark skinned, yet has blondish hair and brighter eye-brows. I suppose this gives him the look that he’s a skilled outdoors-man and a dedicated, hard worker.

PS: And I found Beyond The Tree ever since you added it to WoWWiki’s WebComic page. Oh, and as others have mentioned repeatedly here, you’ve done a superb job – no small task indeed. Reading some of your blogs and pictures of the initial “Misadventures” has helped inspire me to *actually* get started on my own project. Thanks again =)

The problem the first time around was a whole lot in that I had to combine several different armours to create his outfit, and I didn’t have the elements seperate so I had to cut and paste things manually. So I used a soften filter to make it look smoother, which unfortunately also made his face look really off. So I made his face sharper again this time around (and added various specular textures and whatnot)

As for the aside, what can I say? It’s an honor to get to inspire people. At the end of the day I’m “just” trying to tell a story – if it leads to other people getting started creating things of their own.. well that’s just all the better, I’d think ;)
