#40B – “An Obvious Distraction”

You will look at the distracting imagery. You will be distracted from the lack of proper update. *Jedi Hand Wave*

Not working? Drat.

Okay yes, I admit. Filler episode, and a few hours early to boot. I’ll be moving to another home so things have been fairly hectic both in things to do and things to keep in mind. You’ll simply have to live with seeing Hani Foonmall with her hair down for now. Unless there’s unforseen problems with getting myself installed in my new home, the duo should be resuming their adventures as per regular schedule on sunday.

’til then.

You just ruined my dreams :/

Nah, good luck with the moving and take your time to get installed there, we can wait :)

Any chance of making that first image of the comic into a wallpaper? It would look really good.

I can only echo what Simone just said; I stared at it for ages… the lighting and the pose… that first image is very serene and Hani looks so free, it’s perfect!

Some wallpapers could be cool indeed.

The audience demands and the audience shalt recieve. ;)

It’s slightly different – had to re-render and repose the image since apparently I didn’t even have the pose left saved anymore, nor lights or anything. Buuuut, hope it fills its purpose!

(and yes, I am arrived already. Though getting everything put in its place and getting aquainted with my new surroundings will take awhile)

    Lookin’ good.
You mind if i upload a copy (and add different resolutions) to http://spicepaper.blogspot.com with a link to your site here? As i’ve done for other comics in the past.

Sure, by all means. Though if you don’t mind a slight wait I could look about putting together higher res ones – rendering them larger isn’t an issue (the screenshots used as background on the other hand.. *cough*)

I’ll take a look at it later, either today or in the weekend. Should probably try to adapt to make wallpapers in larger resolutions by default anyhow – not everyone suffers the same restrictive resolutions my screen impose.

I’m sure you’ll be able to fish up something for it.
The background is fairly blurry as it is though, so that’d certainly be tricky without a proper template.

Can’t do much with the background for now, not without obtaining a new screenshot at the right angle and trying to somehow upscale it non-destructively. It’s a tad dirty resize since I’d have to approach some things entirely from scratch and figure out how to resize them nicely to make it work really well, but this’ll have to to do for now.

Latter pictures will hopefully look better at higher resolution with aiming for that kind of screen space from the very start.

    Dosent Hani have any dresses?

I actually did make an early mesh of a (formal) dress, though that was before the major mesh overhaul I did with overall better poseability (hands especially). Since I couldn’t come up with any reason Hani’d be wearing formal attire for the next.. well.. year or so in the least, I chose not to upgrade it. Was still being made as the plot and various possibilities for it were being laid out.

But no, at this point I don’t think she has any ;)

Gosh! im so distracted by the distracting imagery that ive completely forgotten about the lack of proper update!

Take all the time you need N. Your comic is simply amazing (in my book atleast) and you being abit busy in RL and not posting each and every planned date… well, that just justifies me checking for any odd-updates you may/may not have made every day since you started this comic :P

Have a safe moveingbackandforth-thingy! … we will be watching you O.o *peers*

Having just stumbled upon your comic here, I have to say….BRILLIANT!! This is fantastic work!!

One would like to know how you were able to export the WoW models into your modeling program of choice (please say it’s a simple plugin that can import into Max 2008!) I’ve been wanting to monkey with the models in Max but have been unable to find an acceptable means of getting the model/skin into Max.

I actually use Milkshape as an intermediary: Modelviewer natively exports to MilkShape format, and MilkShape can in turn export to to Autodesk 3DS which I then import into 3ds Max. You have to reassign textures to the meshes this way (the texture coordinates are intact, it’s just the file associations that are wrong) but you have to fiddle with textures anyway no matter what since the texture masks Modelviewer spits out don’t work with Max (and are upside down, to boot!)

As a small tip, after importing a model, I usually upscale it 2500% and then use Attach to import the various segments that have the same textures to a newly created Editable Poly (rather than converting the geosets and using them directly) – the coordinate system acts on a really tiny scale otherwise, attaching the scaled up geosets to an existing normal scale object resets it to a more “proper” scale.

Man, it’s ages since i’ve used that one.

Awesome!! Thanks for the info! I’ll have to play with it and see what I can hack out. Thanks again and keep up the awesome work!

Heh, y’know I’d never notice otherwise but Hani’s kinda pretty. Maybe it’s the dreamy lighting or something…
Then again most night elves are pretty damn hot anyway >.>
    Gah! I think aloud!
