#41 – “Running with Wolves”

So, getting back on track again.

Since I managed to figure out how to rescale already rigged meshes without any loss of poseability or morphs, I decided that letting Raene Wolfrunner borrow Hani’s mesh (slightly downscaled) would make their interaction much easier on me and a whole lot more visually interesting for you.

Compared to earlier conversations with Delgren the Purifier who was stuck being non-poseable, the difference in how expressive a mesh gets is just plain huge. I’ve been contemplating making a set of generic poseable meshes that I could use as random NPCs and extras in the future, seeing wether I could bump up the average character the duo meets up to their own level of interactivity. It’s a whole lot of work, so no promises it’ll happen or atleast will happen anytime soon.. but I have to say, poseable characters are a whole lot more fun to work with.

Congratulations on your discovery. Love this comic btw, without doubt the best model comic I’ve ever seen (unfortunately not the very best comic, you’ll have to settle for second place, there’s just no way to compete with LFG.)

Well I never expected to be best of anything. To be honest, I’m amazed Beyond the Tree has gotten as much attention as it has. :>

Makes it all the more worthwhile to keep it going. *nod*

oh wow, I simply loved the poses in today’s strip. It’s funny to see how your pictures evolve and gets more smooth to look at, and the NPCs get more life *cough* Delgren needs to be locked away *cough*
Raene Wolfrunner simply looks AWESOME, and I love the way Hani and Tee talks with her, like, they couldn’t care less.

Again, great page, i love to see NPC’s ive delt with myself (from both factions… *coughs*) come to “life” and talk with our two stars. Also love how you seem to give the faces more feeling then just a blank screenshot, i think what your doing is just awsome.

On the Topic of the page, i dont know what comic is my favorite, going between LFG – Beyound The tree – Teh gladiators and Ctrl alt delete. Id go with that they are all unique, each presenting a great deal of toughts and ideas. So id say that yours is like a good series on TV, you love it, but you can still watch others while doing so.

Anyways, keep it up! your doing wonderfull!

This comic is amazing, but one thing troubles me, how do you get the chars into such positions, like wolfrunner holding the polearm over her shoulder like that?

if you see my email, send the response there

and keep up the good work

The site owner uses a 3d modeller. all models can be posed in any position that’s needed.
    Check the archives.

Well not all, or atleast not all easilly, not yet anyway. But in principle, bbr speaks the truth. You’ll have to forgive any lack of e-mail sending at the moment – I’m still trying to resolve the small itty bitty issue of not having an outgoing mail server at the very present. (Service provider doesn’t provide one. Go figure)

Otherwise – like said, even being held up in comparisson to the “huge, heavyweights” is impressive on its own. One always hopes ideas will take off and be apprechiated, of course, but I hadn’t quite expected this level of thereof. :>

The upgrade to Raene was obvious and quite welcome! Glad you were able to figure out a way to do it. Nice work!

I’m starting to wonder if you’re intentionally leaving out the male NPC’s, or if its a subconscious choice on your behalf. With the exception of the cameo n00b that Hani knocked out early on, and Delgren’s appearances, you don’t seem to be including any male characters.

    Why is that?
