#77 – “This Isn’t Goodbye”

So we’re leaving Astranaar again to see what our next destination is and whether or not Tinys’ been accurate in her guesses regarding that or not. We’ll see Raene again, of course, but for now we’ll leave Astranaar in her capable hands. Originally, this was scripted to be part of #76, but I decided to split it up as it gave much more space for each of the seperate dialogues – and considering I just barely fit #76 into a single page on its own.

I wasn’t sure about the joke in this one at first – it felt quite a bit fourth wall-esque, but in the end I came to accept it as actually making sense – not because Tiny is indirectly reinforcing what could be considered a retcon with her redesigned appearance, but because that’s the kind of bickering dialogue the duo spawns, and for her to deny anything’s changed seemed to fit in perfectly into that.

Since Raene and Tiny both got new clothes, can we then expect that Hani will get new clothes as well?

Gruul approves of the new Tiny outfit. This page gives a good angle on it. Gruul approves of Tiny’s sense of humour too. And to further add to this comment: over the last few pages, it becomes more and more evident that Hani has some serious issues. It makes her a great personality, but do I pity the soul that falls in love with her. Alas, who knows where her path will lead. At least she’s got a companion that not only seems to care, but actually read some chapters of ‘Hani – the manual’. Keep up the good work!

I notice some definite sexual interest there.
She’s looking shy / cute in box 3. Wonder whats going trough her mind.

Hani actually got her outfit revision quite awhile ago – most of her look really worked from the start, so she really just got a new pair of trousers, different boots and a shoulder strap. She got another minor revision lately with an upgraded strap and some other tweaks, but I don’t expect her to change drastically unless I have a change of heart.

Hani does have issues though, yes – it’s part of what makes her fun to make use of, and makes the journey itself interesting. Though Tiny certainly isn’t without her own problems – they’re both rather flawed characters in a sense, which helps provide them with all kinds of layers and depth that you likely won’t catch at a glance.

As for Raene, I actually like her alot – I didn’t expect she’d grow even close to as much as a character when she made her first appearance. I just went with what little I could glean from the game itself with her and she pretty much exploded out of that. I like showing her thinking every so often, because it does raise the question of what she’s thinking of.

I liked the page, also i agree with your statement of Raene, i cant really look back at her as just an npc every time i pass trough astra. She has indeed exploded from your story, and i think ill miss seeing her in future pages. Since she cant really go with them. Even tough the idea would be fun. However, cant have all we want can we now? :) besides im sure we will encounter more people in the future who will also spark such great emotions such as youve made Raene do.
