#99 – “Anything but Green”

In stark contrast with how pages normally are lit, I aimed for very dark when it came to night at sea. This has the added advantage that you really get to see the inherent glow of night elven eyes, unlike bright day where it tends to drown in all the other light going on. I’m slightly concerned it might be too dark, but my screen inherently lacks brightness, so it should be fine. I hope.

The lighting effect on Tyrande is almost all post-processing, and was added after the fact to emphasize a certain etherealness – Dream Tyrande was always intended to stand in stark contrast to the real Tyrande. Now when we’ve finally met the real her, the intended difference between that and her portrayal in Hani’s dreams can be that much more evident.

I also idly noted when I was done that I hadn’t removed the shoulder strap even if I’d removed the backpack that it’s supposed to be part of! Oops, my bad. It happens.

Nice page there (And up early!). The lighting is okay. Everything’s clear and visable (in my screen anyway) and I do agree that the contrast between the glow (in both N-Elf eyes and in Dream-Tyrande’s aura) stands out nicely like this.

One thing I had to think of when ready this page. “I’m so glad I’m not Hani. I’d not get any sleep with so many unpleasant thoughts and memories spooking through my mind!” :P

Have to agree on the awesomeness. Even tough dreamTyrande looks really freaky in such a closeup picture. Probably have something to do with the extreme shadows and the fangs peeking out between her lips.

nice page! looks quite nice with the dark theme :) i’m also (once again) wondering what’s the connection between those 2, couse i’m doubting tyrande knows to Astral Project herself… and since this is’t the first time she showed up,only this time(important detail!!!) she’s outside of the dream!!

What strange message might this be then???

    Can’t wait :)

Hani needs a shrink, or really ease off on whatever she is using :p

but i do feel sorry for her, she keeps remembering all the things people have said to her :( In time she will strike back and then everyone will respect her, i believe that ^^

Hi Nhani, not commented before although I’ve been an avid fan since the beginning. I know you’ve heard it all before but just wanted to add my voice and say how fantastic Beyond the Tree is, not seen anything else that even comes close!

On a different note, just saw you in Dalaran, was strange to see such a “familiar face” when we’ve never met! Luckily for you you logged out before I was tempted to do the gushy fan routine! lol

    Greetings.
I follow the story silently and am content.
Even so this particular piece was outstanding
and deserves being commended as such.

Tyrande of the dreams is as elusive as ever,
but Hani shows her inner weakness, probably
    connected to older ghosts?
    It’s delicate.

So wonderful to find someone with a few unique thoughts on this
subject. Really.. many thanks for starting this up. This site is something that is needed on
the internet, someone with a bit of originality!
