#111 – “Who Doesn’t?”

Right, seeing how it’s sunday again, first things first: previous week’s voter image can be found here, while for this week we have something more meme-inspired that people might find amusing. Atleast if they’re familiar with a certain bit of retroactive editing of a certain film.

So this page. We get a short breather and a first destination to head towards along with the usual slew of character moments. There’s a few implications made, of course, though I’m not in too great a hurry to spell them out. It’s usually more interesting to see which people actually pick up on and not!

The first draft of this actually lacked the crowd in the background until I noticed that considering the crowd we’d just left, it seemed off to have no people at all nearby, so I added some to provide atleast some backdrop. Naturally, the absence of crowd is one of the key peices in this page, but I didn’t want the idea that Stormwind’d suddenly become totally empty, just that they found a spot where people generally don’t stop.

In hindsight.. I just realized that you see the hill up in the background in two more panes than just the big central one, and there’s obviously no added people in those two. Oops. Oh well! Feel free to consider it a bonus printing error or somesuch!

Aha, so Te’len actually does have to go to the cathedral, that wasn’t made up. :P I wonder what she’ll have to do there, but we’ll see that! Sadly I won’t be at home for a week, then again, I can read not one, but two new pages when I return. Neat! Now I’m going to check out the new vote picture, I’m curious. ^^

Even though some panes seam to lack crowd, it could just mean that time passed while they talk, which is kind of natural, and people moved on, making the road free for a short time… I did not bother, seriously! Great page! Seems that Te’len is now really taking over command out there, and it’s quite clear now that Rei has been in Stormwind before, though I can’t immagine why, unless she is the size she is because she met a headshrink or witchdocter or something there… which I don’t think. At least Hani and Tiny are argueing again, which I consider good, seeing that Hani was quite talkative back in those days that she felt good. Hani seems to have become quite loyal to her new employer… should that work for anyone who gets her out of trouble or calls het sentinel Foonmal? only time will teach us, or not, which is also good. A bit of mystery never hurt anyone.

    Continue the great work!

Ah, the Cathedral at last. Even if they hadn’t gotten into the whole mess with Fandral, they would still end up coming here, I think. Does anyone else here remember good ol’ Athrikus Narassin?

Like Nhani said before, it’s true that Hani has a long way to go. Too bad that during that time we’re stuck with this violent and generally unlikeable *itch. Hani kinda reminds me of Zintiel from the webcomic Flaky Pastry, especially this strip strikes right home http://flakypastry.runningwithpencils.com/comic.php?strip_id=29

finally she’s getting tired, was beginning to wonder if they ever got tired without resting :p

though i suspect something else is behind Hani’s fatigue, in the last panel she looks like she will get sick

    Nice showing of weakness there.

Having thought about this, the only way that Hani can handle great crowds, is when she is allowed to slaughter the whole mess… also an effective way of crowd control, but it will not be helping her out there. Stays interesting, the unbreakable warrior who has a weakness(at last).

Indeed another nice page,i quite like the way u covered up that”supposed”swear word Tiny used before the word Paladin.

and Mystranator, indeed a good connection between that scene and this one! love that comic also :)

For the rest, lets see if Hani does’t get a breakdown or goes beserk on the crowd ;)

I like how much of Hanis personality this really shows, not much for large crowds, seems to allmost get a headace by it. Also the fact the Rei shows that she has more experiance then one might just think, thus havent spend all her life in Ashenvale/darkshore (ofcause includeing the prior areas, felwood, winterspring etc)

Me like ^^ its those little things that make them grow.

This may be just me, but would it be so bad if someone were to flick Tiny just once to see how far she’d fly?

I mean, seriously, the snarky waggle head is good every now and then, but when it’s all you got, well, let me be the first to say that the little snot would have it coming if someone did do that to her.

I totally agree. They’re cute, but you have to wonder how it would eventually effect you in real life.:)

I’ve even wondered how some of my own characters would respond to her remarks:

      One would

      Another would
      /eye twitch

      The third would

      *grumble grumble*

      /punch hole in tree

Seeing how it’s implied that one of the reasons Tiny has little problem with Hani’s way of.. problem solving.. occasionally gets them in trouble is because “She’d do the same for me.”, I think it’d be quite bad for whoever caused that to happen.

Of course, one of the intermissions/outtakes I had in mind back when I still thought I’d need them ended with Hani using Tiny as an improvised projectile after she used internet shorthand. It was a funny idea, but largely a dig rather than anything about Tiny.

There’s a peice of dialogue from the ship journey that I cut out, part for length, part because it seemed a little too straightforward about it. Though it’s nothing new in that it’s been implied since pretty early on, in hindsight I wish I’d had the space to include it. The gist of it went:
Tiny: If I’ve learned one thing, it’s that you can’t just tell people how to act towards you. You have to work for it. Every. Single. Day.
Te’len: And yet you spend so much time just insulting people..
Tiny: Don’t you think I know that?

You didn’t think being snarky was all she was about, did you? ;)

In fact when someone doesn’t be aware of afterward its up to other
users that they will assist, so here it occurs.
