#118 – “Chain Over Reaction”

So here it is at last – though I very much like the freedom of picking my shot angles as I please, converting entire regions of city is a whole lot of work – especially when otherwise held up for most of the day. Getting enough of the park done for this little stop took me a good three evenings at least, hence why it wasn’t anywhere near done on sunday.

I’m going to be somewhat relieved when we’re out of Stormwind and I can fall back on just backdrops more regularely.

I just read the whole thing again and was wondering, any thoughts as to what level Hani would be?

      Level Skull? ;D

No really – as a story vehicle, Beyond the Tree transcends or flat out defies any kind of artificial progression constraint (which is essentially what levels are). In the game, a level 75 peasant would easilly kick the living daylights out of a level 30 humongous demon – in Beyond the Tree, the reverse is far more likely.

The traveling cast takes it one step further by being protagonists and – potentially in time – heroes.

Let’s put it like this – if the narrative had built up to an epic, one-on-one confrontation between Hani Foonmall and Varian Wrynn, at the end of that arc, Hani would have a pretty decent chance of winning. At the same time, both Hani and Varian would still find Princess Theradras to be a credible threat to either of them.

Yea but do you remember when Hani fought the murlocs? She killed them pretty easy like she is lvl 40.

Hence why I said level skull – all her faults besides, Hani is very much up there with other renegade narrative heroes taken from story into game (Valeera Sanguinar or Rhonin come to mind) – if you absolutely have to think of her in terms of game mechanics, those sorts of examples would be the closest proxy.

I think Tiny is gonna make some friendship with that gnome after helping her/his (I cant see if it is a male of female).Or they are gonna argue who has the most depressing life for being small

I think it will be better if it’s a frenemy relationship.

I have a strange feeling that Areen is about to blow the minds of Hani, Tiny and Te’len… quite funny to immagine actually, Hani just wanting to meddle in when all of the sudden Areen blasts the resistance out of her enemies [drools] something I’d like to see in action sometime =P. Lovely page as usual, keep up the good work!

    Oh oh oh oh!

I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. I just know this is going to be so many kinds of awesome. Those Defias, or Defias wannabe’s!, are in loads of trouble.. Perhaps our Kaldorei friends can save them from the pain of a furious Gnome. *grins*

When we first hear the criminals yelling off to the side I thought that they were referring to that girl who is running around SW yelling about her doll. I wish they would put an end to her, she is so annoying!

I was doing an instance today and some one asked me if I was Hani from the WoW comics.. I was like huh? My main is Hani and its a female nelf but a rogue instead!
Will be reading this since I like comics.
Just wonder where did you get the name Hani from!?

    • 26 Nhani
      June 24, 2009 at 05:14

Hani Foonmall started out as a caricature of my own character, Nhani Moonfall, whom I’ve been playing since more or less the very start. As a character, Hani has grown tremendeously since then and is now very much a character in her own right, but I ended up retaining the caricaturized name through all that. It seems to work for her.

  22. June 27, 2009 at 05:41

hey, I like gnomes. Gnomes are more fun than anybody. Only dwarfs come close to being as much fun as gnomes.

“I like large posteriors and I cannot prevaricate! /
and another gnome would never deviate /
from the position that when a female walks in /
with an remarkably tiny waist /
and curvaceous glutes in your face /
    you get _tumescent_! /
Even elf boys have got to say /
    baby’s got REAR.”
