#126 – “Ready to Go”

In hindsight, scaling buildings relative to the size of human models isn’t the best of ideas – while it makes the roof a rather resonable height for our much taller night elves.. it makes the doors really small. It was rather weird to realize just how much Hani had to crouch down to fit into that doorway, so I think the building could’ve been a triffle larger. It works for a visual theme of establishing contrasts, of course, but well.. we live and learn.

That’s what you get for checking in on a tavern in the trade district.

Good job simulating the crowd, btw.

Somehow, I find the way Hani and Tiny interact very adorable. The way no words are needed indicates the level of trust between the both of them is high, as is their level of insight in the other.

Aside from that: It’s lovely to see Tee actually permits herself to having fun with a ball :) Many people that grow up with issues, seem to believe play is no longer allowed.

The ball’s an apple?! It’s an apple! That makes sense! :P Though a ball to play with was a hilarious though, as long as it lasted, hee hee!

With this in mind, I’m actually considering seeing if I could concoct a render of Hani holding a peice of yarn, only to see what your reaction would be ;)

I like it. Hani shows a yarn to Rei. Rei looks at the yarn for a few seconds and then up at Hani, going all “What?” seconds pass and then Hani tosses it over her shoulder. “I hope you aren’t expecting me to run after it picking it up,” says Rei. A long silence goes and then Rei scurries down from Hani shoulder and runs to the yarn, all “Mine! The one who touches it will recieve a black eye! I mean it!” *glaring at everyone*

I actually meant it a little the other way around: Hani is generally my prime target as far as cat metaphors are concerned. ;)

I can see that in front of me – the group enters the Westfall inn, and Hani spots a piece of yarn on the floor, instantly crouching on all four and jumps the yarn, playing around with it for a short while like a kitty before looking up on the others, Rei facepalm and sighs and Te’len just giggles – that would be hillarious! ;D

Nooo. Rei is the perfect little girl for chasing after yarns! *nods sagely*
I would laugh if I ever saw it.

I guessed an apple too, but now I think a plum would be tastier: I hate red apples, they always taste furry and watery :P

    Cox ftw!

    Very nice page Nhani,..

Poor Hani,.. she has to to go trough the crowd again,..

    Doesn`t Tee need breakfast?
    Rei is eating a apple
    I assume Hani already ate,..

Hani eats souls Angus, you know that… other then that (and the door) i liked the page :P its the little things that makes it fun, such as seeing hani offer Rei to sit on her shoulder instead, and she just does, natural to her i assume since they have been together as-long as they have. Yet as said, i like the little details ^^

The script only refers to the mysterious orb as “Fruit”, alternatively as “Breakfast”, so I think it’s safe to say you’re free to envision it as whatever fruit you’d like – I didn’t have any particular one in mind ;)

As for Te’len, I think she’s had time to head downstairs for awhile before Tiny finally woke up so she’s probably had something to eat then.

wait an second everyone here swift clout when they go to bed except tiny what we know and seen.
and whit all the adventure in mind the cloth would probably get sweat and all that after an wile… i love RPG becos then one don´t have to think of that.
and as some troll joked about there been only one working outhouse in game and that been in northreand and the one in blastedland ((or somewhere there)) but that have been in use by an dwarf for several year now.

i can live with not seeing my ingame char and for that matter any of the chars in this story take a dump. this isnt the sims XD

a little note. on the fourth panel just above hani’s hand she got some light? spot. dunno if thats a lightning malfunctions of if its intended but looks kinda strange

aaaaand a last little thing the door seems to have grown quite a bit from 5th panel to the 6th XD dunno if i missed anything mentioning that thou

’tis a close-up if you didn’t notice, Elveswarrior. The view is zoomed in so we could get a better look at the crowd.

If you mean what I think you mean then that isn’t a lighting issue so much as a weird texturing issue – as far as modelviewer is concerned, that’s the texture supposed to be there. Though I admit I think that roof texture looks rather odd.

And as Xelios says, the door is a matter of perspective: in the 5th pane the characters are still some distance from the door, in the 6’th they’re crouched down to fit through it and actually inside the door. If you look at Hani – especially the angle her neck is compared to her backpack – it suggests just how far she has to crouch down to even fit through that doorway ;)

    Dern kids ‘n yer complainin’!

When I went through Stormwind there were half nekked people dancin’ on top of mailboxes and water fountains all over the place! And there wasn’t even water in the water fountains in those days! We just called ’em ‘fountains’!

Hey Nhani … could you please contact me by email? I’d like to talk to you about something relating your comics!

Gave your comment a quick edit to hopefully obfuscate it somewhat from spam crawlers. *cough* Though for the record, I do see what e-mail addresses people enter when they comment ;)

Just let me wake up and I’ll get around to.

Great work again Nhani. Just a quick question though. It might just be me but in panel 4 is hani’s right eye little offset? Not trying to complain or anything because this is still a great page but I was just curious.

    • 22 Nhani
      July 17, 2009 at 10:30

Looking closely, one eye does look a tad higher up than the other.. it might be me accidentally setting them like that without noticing or something that’s inherent in the new rev 4 model that I’ll have to start compensating for. Worst case it might be an actual issue in how I changed eyes to work with Rev 4 that I may have to fix somehow.

I’ll keep a closer eye on it (pun not intended) and see if it remains an issue in future pages or not.

if some one would is interest in knowing this page value and i think it might be wrong but it said it was $6832.8 USD.
doing that from time to time just for the laugh of it on random pages.

  16. July 18, 2009 at 15:45

I’ve said it before, but your work is simply amazing. You manage to get so much out of a single frame. Also, I love the Gnomish paladin. ^^

It’s largely a question of time and having a topic in mind for it. I still have more model revisions to do and more chatter to come up with, it’s just that lately there’s been a lack of time and I haven’t really been able to make something of the few topics I’ve come up with.

It’s far from the most rarely updated blog around, so I don’t exactly feel like it’ll evaporate from inactivity just yet. It’s just a question of when I have something I feel is interesting enough to mention.
