This first stage of the mythological journey – which we have designated the “call to adventure” – signifies that destiny has summoned the hero and transferred his spiritual center of gravity from within the pale of his society to a zone unknown. This fateful region of both treasure and danger may be variously represented: as a distant land, a forest, a kingdom underground, beneath the waves, or above the sky, a secret island, lofty mountaintop, or profound dream state; but it is always a place of strangely fluid and polymorphous beings, unimaginable torments, superhuman deeds, and impossible delight. The hero can go forth of his own volition to accomplish the adventure, as did Theseus when he arrived in his father’s city, Athens, and heard the horrible history of the Minotaur; or he may be carried or sent abroad by some benign or malignant agent as was Odysseus, driven about the Mediterranean by the winds of the angered god, Poseidon. The adventure may begin as a mere blunder … or still again, one may be only casually strolling when some passing phenomenon catches the wandering eye and lures one away from the frequented paths of man. Examples might be multiplied, ad infinitum, from every corner of the world.

Nice page Nhani,..
but whats with the look of Capt. Cravenrest in that second panel?
anyways,.. i cant wait to see how this chapter unfolds.
Capt. Cravenrest is thinking “oh dear, they are going through goldshire”…
:P
I expect Horace, while currently relieved to see them leave *his* jurisdiction, still worries about what trouble they will cause the Kingdom of Stormwind elsewhere.
In other words, TC is exactly right.
haha yea, im also thinking what will happen now will goldshire fall before the anger that is hani o.O
Does it say Chapter Kive? Down in the left corner.
I swear it does!
Anyway, the first three panels again were very touching.
I think you get me with the silent pages ;)
It’s one of those old script f’s that goes down and under (yeah, that sounds sooo descriptive), but the bottom part is hidden by the chapter title, making it distinctly look like a k. It worked on chapter four since “exile” is short. This one.. not so much.
I checked chapter four and see what you mean,
but I still can’t believe that’s an f :D
funny, or should I say, kunny..
It’s one of those things where I debated whether I could do anything about it or not, deciding not I just ran with it. If nothing else, I can always revolutionize the english language by adding the number kive.
I like the work you’ve done to the shadows – they look awesome :)
And.. just a question.
Is it me, or is ‘Captain Complain’ a little less complaining with Areen around?
He knows Areen. That, and she’s a paladin. People reasonably assume they’re in good company when a benevolent warrior is among them. :)
I’m thinking that the looks being exchanged might be a little more than “take care” and “thank you”…hmm…
Also, I hate to point it out since the artwork is done so well throughout, but the shadows of the people are going the wrong way from the shadows of the lamp posts. Sorry…
What, there’s shadows on the… oh, there is shadows on the lamp posts! I totally missed that fact. xD
Guess you can count that as a downside of the new shadow engine we have in World of Warcraft – and yet another thing I’ll have to try to remember to pay attention to! I honestly didn’t notice there were shadows in the backdrop so I didn’t put any thought to it. Shows you how much attention I pay sometimes, eh?
And it is fine to point out when I make a slip, really. There’s plenty of cases where something is strange, weird or downright broken; sometimes I notice only after a page is up, sometimes I don’t notice at all (or just realize it when someone mentions it).
Yes. We all know those fruitless nights where you ravage yourself for typos.
Darn, I want that second panel as a wallpaper. It’s just -THAT- good.
I like the third panel personally it’s better seeing the three
What the… is hani smileing?! O.o nuuuh hani is cursed! some demon has gotten to her! … she is about to join the were-wolf/vampire hybrinds in goldshire as a possesd person! *cwies*
No, nice calm page really :) not a million people to look at ^^
To all those fans that haven’t found out yet (in that case: shame on you ;)
There’s a new voter incentive up!
Stumbled across your site today, read through the strip in about an hour. Just wanted to let you know I liked it and will be back every now and then to keep up.
great page Nhani! looks great! also like the text part beneath it, Joseph Campbell, why does that name ring a bell???
For the rest, cant wait what chapter Kive will bring ;)
I’ve quoted Joseph Campbell before actually; he was a mythologist who is probably most known for his book The Hero with a Thousand Faces and his codifying of the Hero’s Journey within it.
I can’t vouch for its scientiffic accuracy, but I know his work has influenced a fair amount of authors and writers; Beyond the Tree certainly incorporates some of the ideas throughout.
Joseph Campbell is the man ;)
You make too much of suspense.. i don’t like the look on Capt. face though.
Well, i always liked Greek myth(who does’t?) but i’ll go look up that book u mentioned.
Also, there’s also another webcomic artist who’s last name is Campwell or something similar, i just read so many, its hard to keep track ;)
Also, have u checked out Angus his guildsite? its not bad! even has his own comic :)
I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us when they pass Goldshire xD
I wait with much aticipation!
That might be the first human male in wow that looks good. Actually.. looks droolworthy. *cough*
Ahum. Those were the days.
Hani looks rather happy they’re outta there ^^
