#130 – “It’s All Green”

Right, I’m not sure how colour contrast and brightness is for this page as I’ve picked up a new screen to use instead of my laptop one, resulting in that everything has gone from dark, gray and tiny to bright, vibrant and bloody huge. I’d suspect it might take awhile for me to get used to, nevermind calibrate my inner sense of how much is enough and how much is too much.

In the meantime we have this page, which in my notes was largely just described as Areen Gives Exposition, which isn’t all that interesting; necessitating it being expanded to say other things as well. I do like how she describes Elwynn Forest as consisting entirely of Trees, Animals and Thieves.

Bright and vibrant makes since. This is the first time we have left the press of SW, or the misty ashenvale/darkshore areas, to the moderately bright that is the roads of Elwynn.

And on the other side of things, that is a good point, there sure are alot of thieves in Elwynn…hmmm.

The bright and contrast seems fine in the 2 first pictures. but in the other ones it seems a little dark. Like a cloud suddendly block the sun or something. A little brighter in them all but the first 2 then its great.

all in all? this whole comic is GREAT! :D i really enjoy reading it :D

I read the comment about the diffrences in screens and have to say having seen the comic on a 24 inch widescreen and having read it day in day out since I have found it the colour diffrence is “slight” but I personally cannot tell the diffrence on here from when as you say you where doing it on a laptop screen. I guess it must seem like a big jump and everything seeming bigger and brighter must be a shock at first regardless awesome job. Will keep me coming back for more.

The easiest way I could probably describe it is like having worn a pair of sunglasses in front of the computer for a long time and then suddenly removing them, heh.

Now, the laptop I have is pretty awesome in itself, and the fact that its 17″ built in screen could show a 1920×1200 resolution at that size is amazing, but let’s face it – laptops are built to be power saving, and both its luminance and contrast ratio suffer from that.

..a 24″ widescreen TFT was pretty much the smallest, cheapest option I had to match the resolution, heh. Of course, it also has a much higher luminance and an immense contrast ratio as a result, which is great really and I love how vibrant everything suddenly is. I spent the first few hours after plugging it in in a continous state of glee along the lines of “OMG THE COLOURS! I HAS COLOURS!!”.

Of course, as an inconvenient side effect it also makes it difficult to judge how bright light should be and how dark shadows should be since for me everything is suddenly sooo much brighter. And larger. And more vibrant.

Excellent lighting as far as I can see, especially in the 6th panel – no troubles at all!

    Loving it! Keep it up!

Hey been reading your comic n I must say its really good as well as there’s quite alot of improvement since your first few panels (n by that I mean your very first page)N I want moooooooooooooore pages :D

As for the screen switching, as far as i can remember each screen has a special bulb whose name i can’t recall if you could caliber you’re new monitor to the same caliber as your old you’re colour problem is solved (btw what I mean by caliber it’s not the lighting of the screen aka the lghting screen option most computers have but the actual bulb in itself…)

Just to give you a quick example a mac is likely to have lighter colours cause the ‘bulb colour is really lighblue or white (depending on which mac you have whereas on a normal pc laptop they’re likely to be darker and obscurer as the bulb is different thus you can have the same red (u can view its code on phtoshop) but when youd have to see them on both screen the mac would be projecting a much brighter red than that of the pc and yet they are the exact same red… or a clasic example is the lighting with which you work with… if on your desk u have a lamp with an orange bulb then the colours you’ll be sseing on the screen are likely goign to be perceived a bit more orangy that what they really are….

ANYWAY love your comics keep it up can’t wait for the next pages :) n hope the bit of knowledge that stil remains in my brain of that photoshop course i did a few years ago prooves to be useful…

Why does Te’len always show off her legs? Did she use to be a model or something? =D

      July 30, 2009 at 23:02

ummm…if you got it flaunt it?

And of course in that skirt, to not show leg she would have to take little tiny gnome sized steps. Maybe Areen can teach her

    • 13 Nhani
      July 31, 2009 at 08:11

Largely because her skirt was designed to do just that; it gives her a very distinct visual look and feel that’s also so radically different from the other two night elves in our group. You can very easily tell that Hani and Te’len come from two completely different parts of night elven society.

On that tangent, I can’t imagine night elves would consider the skirt Te’len wears as all that radical.

The angles with Areen and head postures are really sizing up to showing how small she actually is.

    I likey.

This might have come up before, I don’t know, but basically what we’re looking here is, I figure, the basic setup of a group going for the Deadmines PvE.. I might be joking a bit, but hypothetically Hani is the dps fury warrior, where the fury really has shown lately, and our paladin with a shield ought to be the tank, since the druid has shown tenderness rather than ferocity in the past. Now my question here is just, will we be picking up 2 more along the way, or will Rei constitute for the latter parts of what Hani forgets?

After reading about luminance differences between panes, my first thought was, “Huh, I didn’t even notice!” After careful scrutiny, I do believe I figured out why it didn’t register: It’s a natural darkening. The group has just left a big city, crossing the last bit of open space between it and the forest. (First two panes). That spot wouldn’t have the sun obscured by trees and their leaves. After a while though, that is exactly what would happen; they would enter the forest, which is always a bit darker.

I have just started reading your comic today, and i must say it is quite a phenomenal comic.
Its such amazing work. I play WoW but im horde lol, but still interesting comic. Great job.

Excellent work. But as you’ve asked what might improve ….

in panels 1 and 2, the iris of Areen’s left eye overlaps her eyelashes. And the right one also seems just a bit off, or flat, or something.

Also in panel 2 there’s a definite color-change line across her forehead, right between the topmost parts of her eyes and the inside ends of her eyebrows. And I think her shoulderpad is being clipped by her chin.

In all seriousness, George Lucas had way lots more errors in the 1977 release of Star Wars. These are small things, and your art is wonderful.

Those Defias could come with 100 men if they wanted, one stare from hani and they would turn into those bunnies that always seem to bounce at the side of the road… And whats with Rei’s allmost exited face when she asks if any will come their way :P

As for the visual, i like it. It has a rather peaceful atmosphere to it. So i say your doing right :)

As usual a nice page! can’t wait till the defias try to rob/kill them! or that they go after the defias since they are going to the deadmines…

Btw, always loved Te’lens legwork! wonder where i can that kind of dress ingame for my human warlock…

As always, I love your comic more and more with every page you upload! As people have been saying, please get a few thieves to come along and try their luck (which would have run out the moment they picked their target XD) and have Hani just run them through.

As for Te’len, I would tend to think, taking into account that she is a druid and all nature-loving and all that stuff, that her kind of dress wouldn’t be considered as anything more than the usual thing in my opinion. As its been said before, Hani/Rei and Te’len have come from entirely different societies, and on that note, it also makes a good character development setting if two+ people from various societies band together and use what they do and know best to aid each other, whilst having at the same time their feuds between each other, as we have seen our band of 3 have previously.

Keep up the fantastic work Nhani, always developing an awesome comic! XD

I know what you mean about a new monitor; I got a new LCD screen last month (my old CRT was having problems), and it took me a while to get used to it.

Anyway, keep up the good work! I’ve very much enjoyed it so far!

future, the researchers want to find out whether a combination of several educated in the gastrointestinal tract hormones can further enhance the effect of the gastric band.
Individuals who have underlying medical condition should also consult a physician before taking this diet pill.

Having said that, the study has shown that just about anything that can maximize the metabolism, also can raise the weight reduction even if the
    human being is just resting.
