#132 – “No Purse, No Pursuit”

Putting this up quickly so I don’t hold people up in the relentless 3.2 emblem hunt. If anything, I might mention that the original idea was to see the two remaining cutpurses fleeing in the last pane, but I really didn’t find space for them with the visual idea I had in mind. Hopefully the idea of them escaping out of frame is implied enough that showing them won’t be necessary.

    “Beware! Your knees are mine!”

Panic evident in the bandit’s eyes superbly done, my friend. :)

Hani needs more bowling pins… I’m sure an attack like the first pane would make a strike ^.^

hmm, I’m not so sure: it’s my impression that, if not unconscious, the female bandit has a broken neck. Also Areen is giving another the coup de grace in panel 3.

I’m actually not sure of her fate – if she’ll ever get up again, it certainly won’t be in a hurry. I thought the ‘fight’ as such highlights a few character differences, notably about what their goals in the scuffle is and how far they take it.

Areen is very deliberate about her actions in pane three – Hani on the other hand has already shifted her attention onward. I personally found that a rather interesting difference between them.

Awesome as usual, I like how Tini is hanging onto the shoulder even in combat :D
The only thing I found awkward was Hani looking into “the camera” in the last panel, it at least seems to me as if the bandits have escaped to somewhere outside the left border of that panel, and thus Hani should be looking towards them, as a true warrior wouldn’t let her guard down to pose for the photographer :D

It was actually intended that the two remaining bandits were to be running into the camera – to the point where you’d only see parts of their legs or whatnot and then see everything happening behind them. Ultimately, I couldn’t get that actually working well, so I just ran with the shot and hoped it’d look enough like they’d fled towards and then past the camera.

I don’t really storyboard the comic much expect for in my head, and while sometimes that goes perfectly.. sometimes it really doesn’t work at all; I don’t really find out if the shot in my head actually works (and looks good enough) when made practical – sometimes I find better shots, sometimes I just try with what I have and see if it works.

She’s meant to be looking after them. If it doesn’t seem like it, then that’s just the illusion falling apart ;)

    Very nice Nhani,…

Poor little Defias,.. they never knew what hit them.
Good for Hani,.. atleast she got to fend her frustrations,..

I like how Te picks up on her responsibility automatically, seeing she’s already taking care of the people that were about to be robbed :) Nice contrast!

It’s actually quite simple: it’s a particle system, no different than, say, the various visual effects that some enchants give to weapons. What I did was put an emitter under Hani and her victim, tell it to create flat rectangles facing the camera. They in turn have a material to make them look dust- or smoke-like.

It’s actually exactly the same way I do blood effects, just spread over a larger area and dirt-colour, instead of red.

A pink round bassinet with pink decorative bed linen can really look stunning
any time of the day or night. This allows your babies to sleep close to each other without clobbering or rolling over each other.

Though this article might be of great help in your
decision to buy a baby bassinet, try to find out more on baby bassinets by reading reviews and other
    articles on the internet.

You have to throw the collected dirt from the container in the
garbage can in your backyard or outside your house to prevent the dust and dirt from getting back into your house.
You will find yourself picking up dirt you never imagined was around, and
which you would not be capable of getting out with many other vacuum cleaners.
A sternum clip also assists in giving you more support.
