#178 – “We Seem To Have Dropped An Ogre”

Pane size restrictions are a funny thing – I actually spent quite a bit of time on trying to pose Hani properly for retrieving her sword from the body of Rhahk’zor, and then it ends up cut away because of pane size restrictions and needed camera angles. It’s actually a fairly common occurance at that – work getting cut because it simply doesn’t fit in.

Looks like the rest of the party went ahead and left Te afk, and now she’s being attacked by a pat! D:

It would be nice to see Te’Len haul let her druid loose and do something other than be the damsel in distress. Even low level druids running around deadmines have formidable talents. Even she doesn’t want to pew pew someone with wraith or moonfire she has that all time crowd control favorite roots where she could hold someone in one place and try to talk sense into them.

Side note, can you imagine the jokes from Tiny if Te after turned into a thunder chicken Moonkin?

” … she could hold someone in one place and try to talk sense into them.”

Now that could be interesting to see. :) lol

This is were the party arrives to find some 12 defias in bloodly pools, tee standing in the middle with her innocent wounded look, blood covering her clothing, and then she smirks lightly.

but no, looking forward to next page :)

Also, i kinda loled alittle at Areens running in the last panel ^^

Did they actually kidnap Te’len Nila?… What took them so long! =P Think they got scared off by the looks and actions of Areen and Hani, at least I would have been, if I were them…

Somehow I’m sure they’re going to regret this badly… Lovely! =)

Keep it up, it’s always refreshing, reading a good WoW based webcomic… kind of grew used to it, so you have my vote.

Love the exchange between Tiny and Areen!

On a side note: the inset for Areen looks…off. Something about the nose – it’s like the tip was a separate layer that didn’t get the lighting treatment. It’s also in the inset for Hani, but not as noticeable. (Shrug) just one of those weird quirky things with the way the models are constructed?

Hm. I think it might be from an above light that ends up casting part of the face in shadow but not the nose; guess it’s just one of those combination of angles that happen to maximize the resulting amount of weird. Lighting and shadow is always a quirky thing, especially since my choices are largely between very sharp, exact, pinpoint shadow, or very inexact, blurry shadow that doesn’t account for transparency masks.

It’s kind of ironic really how most games nowadays have tricky workaround ways where they can create soft shadows in real time, while I can’t seem to get the same out of 3ds even with like a half a minute rendertime per frame.

Nice little exchange there between Tiny and Areen. And love how her sense of humour never seems to run dry. “I think we dropped an ogre somewhere, have you seen it?” Pure lolness, how come Areen didn’t laugh at that – or not even a smirk? But then Te’len finds herself behind again and captured. Again. I’m guessing there’s a unanimous thought going through all of them, quoted from a few of the more random friends of mine:

Though what’s the betting it’s a critter rat that’s running in circles around her legs? Unlikely, I know, but you never know these things.

What is it with people and thinking solely about Druid’s Balance speels? I want to see Telen ripping people up in Cat or Bear form. Anyway this goes, I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of blood shed for the safety of Tel ;)

lore wise she is an druid yes but she is possibly more of the diplomatic ones not the combats ones so she might not have learned any spells at all.
and many spells in game in an lore style might be that it takes an second for an skilled caster to cast but for an complete novice it can take up to an hour to get the same thing to even work.
think of the ultimate doom spells that takes i don´t know how long but here for just an wrath spell and the skilled one can do the spell wile thinking of what to eat to lunch and the novice need to concitrad all its thought on it just to get it to work at all.

Nice page! love the joke Tiny made hehehe.
I just am a little iritated by the fact that Te’len is once again playing the damsel in distress role.. when do those ppl learn to either fight or stay out of dungeons???
It always bugged me in the mario and zelda games, girl gets kidnapped, hero sets out the rescue her, its good for the first 2-3 times, but after the 10th time u really begin to wonder what the game makers were thinking…(if at all)

Oh i recall those patrolling SOB’s that attacked us in the back.
Nice little inclusion there from the instance, personal experince?

Any bets that she got caught by a support pillar? :<

No matter what it is, I suspect she’ll have to be rescued as usual. I have to say it would be nice to see her actually do something other than shriek and cower in moments of danger. After all, Druids are rather dangerous things in the game. They certainly are not as defenceless as Te’len (wish they were, lol).

Anyhoozle, I always enjoy your comics, Nhani, so I just thought I’d share my continuing support for your work. I might not say it often, but it’s there.
