#187..? – “First Another Perilous Romp in Lair”

I know I’m a little late compared to the rest of the internet; this was entirely a pickup, so I had to form the whole thing from scratch over a set few hours.

It’s funny, up until now I’ve largely tried to avoid doing seasonal stuff because I felt it got in the way of what I was actually trying to do. I suppose two-three weeks of coughing my throat to ribbons may have eroded my judgement.

For some reason, Te’len having a Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain ringtone is the funniest part of this page.

It’s also a little sad that I’m nerdy enough to recognize it…

    • April 2, 2010 at 01:24

Technically, isn’t that song from when they were Level 10 ETC back in Warcraft III? I can still see the credits rolling…

You’re right, that was their first song back when they were level 10.

It always amused me how Arthas was rocking loose to the song for the credits of both WarCraft III and its expansion.

Oh and I should add, the choice of ringtone isn’t actually entirely my own credit; I have a friend who suggested it as I was expressing the idea and asking what’d be the best text analogue for a phone ringing. You see, I’m the boring sort who prefers it when my phone sounds like an actual phone because it is, in fact, a phone; and also because I tend to tune out non-phone-like noises.

Making the ringtone into Storm, Earth & Fire was a genial suggestion, however, and it made the sum total all the better.

i recognized it too…and now i feel the need to head to BRD and demand a performance…

And I thought Te is going to Hurricane those goblins to oblivion :D
    Nicely done.

Firstly: I have to admit I recognised the Tauren Chieftains too…
Secondly: Te’s hands are way out of proportion for a mobile phone xD
Thirdly: I love this little break from the storyline. Very funny and Te looks like one of those Beverly Hills snobs in the 6th frame. Hani holding a glass of wine in the last frame: Priceless =D

As I figured it, it was under the belt sort of. That said, it actually didn’t really fit there, model wise, so if all else fails she summons it out of the ether using the magic of how everyone needs a mobile phone to bring it forth.

Well, had the phone’s speech bubble been higher we could have assumed it had been hidden in (what there is of) Telen’s tunic – which makes you realise what so impressed Protector Lieck back on page 146: “Ooh, she’s got a nice iphone!”

    heard of hammer space.
and about the goblin in the back ground as its show on current account i can cont them on one hand how many times Nhani have imported the Back ground as an object (3D stuff) and not as an picture… i men she is are doing an blue screen work.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_key
okey lets cont it was first the ship then another ship then it was the INN in sentinel hills and thats about it.
any way what i meant was that Nhani usaly use an picture as background that have been taken ingame she dont import the map for the actors to physical touch so to say.

hay Nhani that so should be an random render. btw what kind of model is that?

wait is it an Iphone or something in that way?

    • 22 Nhani
      April 2, 2010 at 09:54

It is, actually; I did a google image search for mobile phones to see if I could find something fitting that’d be easy to make a quick and dirty texture for a phone, and for some reason, the iPhone was the only one that had both straight front and back images and didn’t really need side ones.

    xD

My heart now leaps in joy with the sure knowledge that Te’len is actually a mouthy, British, metalhead. I bet she has to take out most of her piercings before they shoot scenes too 0 :o

    Rock on sister! \m/

And Hani is wearing her hair down and sipping wine off-camera. I love this take on the “actors” behind the characters.

        April 2, 2010 at 09:47

This is something I’ve been thinking about for some time, actually; not this particular instance of it, but potentially creating asides for random outtakes or voter images or whatnot where it takes a step back and acts as if it was all a move or TV serial or similars being recorded, and show how the actresses playing the characters are all wildly different from their roles.

There’s something hilarious about imagining Hani’s actress being this mild-mannered, cultured lady who normally wouldn’t hurt a fly.

        • April 2, 2010 at 20:45

And guessing of the ringtune Te’len actually plays Warcraft and rolls Horde…..
I love this april fools page here dudette, very awesome. Question, didn’t you also had a similiar ‘breaking the 4th wall’ thing on your youtube page with Hani walking around and pushing the camera away?

Bit late with response… But I love it!
I half expected a horde to storm into the next chamber, but then I recognized the lyrics of the song as well, saw the cellphone, started to realize that it is a cellphone and what day it was yesterday.

It made my day! Keep it up!

I admit, I sometimes do love backronyms. Though “Lair” was the closest I could find to “Cave” that started with L.

Heh…I guess with everything that’s been going on, a bit of LOL value is necessary.

Scary part is that I only realised it was a filler page when I actually got to the part of her answering the phone. What does that say about me? Addict to the comic? No idea…then again, with yesterday’s hash-up, I think I needed something to help slip me back into a casual lull. This works.

To be honest, part of the joke was to segway from continuity into non-continuity; basically forcing a moment of “wait.. what?”

The two goblin lines were actually taken from the script of the real page #187.

      • 36 Gordrake Thunderhoof
        April 3, 2010 at 12:05

I guess that explains why I did, indeed, have a moment of “Wait…what the…?”

But yeah…I don’t think this could’ve been put any better. The fact you’re using Warcraft material to even make the outtake is brilliance in a nutshell. Only thing now is that now it’s tempting me to go to Shattrath and wait for them to come on-stage…

I didn’t get this page either. At first I thought “Has Nhani gone nuts? A cellphone and a glass of wine in the middle of all this drama!?”. Then, when I read the comments I finally got it. I also noticed Rei’s facial expression in the 5:th pane. To me, it looks like she’s thinking “Cool, you’ve got an iPhone!?”. And the 8:th pane gives me the impression that Rei’s more of a scaredy cat, compared to how she usually act in the story.

Actually, I couldn’t help but laught at the whole advertisement thingy. You really should have more of these fillers to … ye know … let the drama be for awhile and give all dedicated readers out there some “wtf?”-moments. Top work!

It was actually planned I’d have more intermissions at first; as things developed though, I felt I neither needed nor really had time for them, hence why this is the first one outside of Chapter One.

This one largely happened due to a combination of timing, sickness and how these caverns keep dragging.

Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make
your point. You definitely know what youre talking about, why waste
your intelligence on just posting videos to your site when you
could be giving us something enlightening to read?

effortlessly as if your website but the truth is should look at the punctuation on several of the articles you write. Many of them tend to be rife using punctuation troubles i believe it is really problematic to inform reality nevertheless We’ll surely come once more once again.
