#197 – “Where Do They Get All Those Wonderful Toys”

In hindsight.. while I remembered there was a railing.. I didn’t remember there was a gap in it. The goblins were also nowhere nearly as tightly packed as I recalled, but ah well.

Ohhh… so Tiny’s going to be a steam warrior? CAN’T wait to see the next page :D

Tiny is such a ‘destroy’ type… she’s funny. She is just so the opposite of a Night Elf. It’s probably good that she’s miniaturized.

I don’t comment often, but i read this comic every Sunday (from wow.com). I have to say: it’s my favorite.

I’ve long felt that for all their faults and flaws, our three night elves to a point all represent a portion of night elven society; Hani being effectively representative of both the Temple and the Sentinels in spite of neither of them seeming all that happy with her, Te’len being more the ordinary civilian with some druid sprinkled in, and Tiny.. well.. the Rebel, the kind who couldn’t wait to get away from all the stuffy old people and their centuries-long lives.

She definitely is the opposite, and she puts in a whole lot of effort to make sure she remains just that.

    Yay! Tinkering Night Elves!

I just LOVE this webcomic (I check it every day…) and I’ve to say that, well…
Not only it gave me the decision to transfer from a stupid PVP Realm to an RP Realm, but it also gave (And keeps giving) a lot of fun, relax and enjoyment…

I can’t wait to see what Tiny’s going to do with that Mechagolem… As a Tinkering Kaldorei I can’t express how I love Tiny’s view of technology…

The “Awesome” during the Shredder Battle was… fantastic!

I like the group not always being on the same page; Hani and Te’len are far more traditional night elves and tend to view technology with suspicion, if not outright mistrust and resentment. Areen.. knows of it, the same way your average person knows how roughly how a car works, but isn’t much of a tinkerer or gear head herself; not in this incarnation, anyhow.

Tiny is very much of a different mind.

All that said, I actually was very uncertain about the “Awesome!” – while I do use modern English, I try to avoid being too modern-slang-ish about it. Tiny does have a little more leeway there than the rest, but sometimes I spend a whole lot of time trying to find a different curse or exclaimation to use because the one that first comes to mind feels too modern somehow.

Third panel is a bit messy. Is that Hani’s foot? Lol.

Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Its not, you can see in the second panel Hani raising her foot right beside his head.

Excellent update, looking forward to what Tiny has planned!

It ended up a fair bit darker than I expected; in the render you can see the foot fairly clearly, but the background turned very dark just there so it blends into the whole darkness. I was hoping the setup on the pane before would be enough, as such.

Why do I have Power Rangers flashbacks all of a sudden?
Like the mecha could be a zord or something…

Seems more likely that she intends to throw the object to make enough noise to cause a fight.

Tiny wil either ride this mini-shredder, or make something explosive from it.

    Tiny is Ripply!

To the authors comments at the bottom of the page: They don’t seem very close together until you are about level 16 and your running about the room panicking about keeping the goblins from fleeing. :3

This is so recognisable! :P Yes, at those times it’s TOOOO CLOSE!

And for the view upstairs: the goblins patrol from the outer ring to the inner forge back to the outer ring, ad infinitum (or ad mortum). There might be moments where it’s more crowded in the centre?

I did look at them for a few minutes; might’ve been where I was situated, but I couldn’t seem to get a better group shot than the one I got. Then again, there was the whole smelting container in the way, as well as a rather precarious ledge.

    I think I know what’s gonna happen…

but where is she gonna find 12 sausage links?

Tiny seems to know a lot about lockpicking, mechanical devices and things that go ‘kaboom’.
She must be a rogue with Goblin engineering profession. =D

This is going to be fun. :P

Interestingly enough, whenever I’ve tried to picture how Tiny’d behave in a fight if she was normal size, it generally always tend to be using a rifle.

I keep getting this vision of Tiny pulling an exploding sheep out and setting it at some enemies. For fun. Because she can.

Or riding around on a mechanical whelp. *_* That would be disturbing.

This comic is just amazing! I read all chapters in just one day … and now I’m addicted to it =)
What programs do you use to make these?
Oh … and keep up the good work!

A few varied ones; modelviewer is an obvious one, though there’s a few others too involved in fetching and converting models and textures and other resources. The two main ones though would be 3ds Max and Paint Shop Pro; there’s a bit of a choice of rendering studio out there, and I think one notable WoW machinima creator (who even ended up with a character cameo in the game itself, I think) swears by.. Lightwave, I think it was? Actually not sure which one it was now, but as I recall does the same with re-rigging and posing models that I do.

PSP is mostly because I’ve been using that for image manipulation since forever, and some habits die hard.

The reason they don’t seem as tightly packed is that Blizzard went back a while ago and removed some trash from some of the longer dungeons so lower level groups wouldn’t have to invest as much time in them as previous.

I can somewhat understand their reasoning there. Does explain why there seemed to be rather few of them around.

Wait, did that goblin get beaten by his own mechanical pet?

    EPIC FAIL! XD

Actually I think that Tiny asked Te to pick up what looks like a remote control. Crashin’ Thrashin robot mayhem anyone?
