#234 – “Might not keep the Defias away”

So things have been a tad sporadic lately – I’ve been doing a fair bit of work with the 3D models I use in preparation for trying to update several at once for the sake of some internal consistency regarding a certain detail (namely eyes). It’s been making progress, but.. it’s also meant that most of my creative energy has been going into that, leaving my head refusing to transform lose page ideas into actual working dialogue scripts a little too often for my liking.

There was a fair bit of dialogue snippets I’d considered for this page, including references to the identity of said corpse, but it felt like expositing around that would require several panes, so I left it out.

Whoops, I think the Defias has Rubbed Te’s Fur the wrong way, I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out what kind of Druid she is really made of hehehe.

I didn’t even think Te had it in her! Looking forward for the next page to see how it’ll go, I feel sorry for the defias guys.

I hope Te’len does some awsome action:D Wonder what kind of druid she is. Resto, balance or Feral. Would love it if she suddenly changed into a huge cat:D

How dare you, sir! Te’len is, if any sort of pastry, a sweet, warm, delicious and comforting cinnamon bun with glazing! Hrumph, I say!

This got me thinking: can droods wear make-up? How would that work? Like, nail polish. Would it come back? I guess if clothes morph with you, there’s no reason why make ups wouldn’t. Hmmmm.

So, Hani looks surprisingly chill about all this. She must be cruising on some serious endorphins right about now.

I’d have gone for macaroons ^_^

Bears and kitties seem to have makeup an Jewellry already, so I am guessing it’s preserved, but is form specific :3

‘Macaroons’ shall be added to the registry of Official Te’len Bakery Anthropomorphizing Guide Lines as ‘acceptable’.

The main expression I’ve been aiming for with Hani is tired, really – I figure for all Te’len did to help.. that injury probably still hurts like bloody hell, and while Hani tends to be proficient in ignoring pain.. yeah, I think she’s somewhat out of it unless the situation requires her to focus.

Also, for the Te’len Bakery Anthropomorphizing Guide Lines I will submit a swiss roll with strawberry jam filling with sliced banana.

I think if the leader dies the others could be easily convinced to run away. They seem willing to… negotiate. :]

You could always try to fit in a short moment of recognition into one of the dying frames of one of the Defias, if you wish to expose VanCleef’s identity, Nhani. That would be brief and, I suppose, a lot less work than working out an extra dialogue about it.

Keep it up, the eyes and looks are great!… and I must admit, the stirred druides is also stirring my curiosity. I wonder how they’ll end up, but you’ll probably figure out the most fitting course of actions for the next panes. Looking forward…

hmm. the fact that it is their leader she is dragging around doesn’t scare the dude a bit? or he is just slow?

anyways, te’ is finaly going to kick some ass, or so i hope :)

I think they might not really have clued into who he is yet – maybe they’ve only seen him in the darkness and would more recognize his voice than his body dragged around like a sack of potatoes.

      They’re lowly minions, after all!

How smart can they be? I mean, you walk up to one wearing top of the line tier gear with big glowy weapons and they continue to attack you doing 1 to 2 points of damage. ‘Another chance to try out my sharpened blade!!!” Yeah right, are you not only stupid but nearsighted? Wouldn’t that big pile of your friends all dead on the ground from one shot give you some sort of a clue that you might be picking on the wrong person.

Even the level 80 mobs have about two brain cells to run the show and both of them are fighting for control

You can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you!

So, i have a question for you, and sorry if i have typos, i am on my mobile. Anyway will the heros ever enconter Dreanei? Also how are you planning on dealing with the huge zone changes in the coming expantion? Love the comic and the Thoughts for Food, most exccent work.

I’m not sure about Draenei – I spent a fair bit of time thinking about it, and ultimately so far, Beyond the Tree is more or less set during initial release, as such. So technically, the Draenei haven’t even arrived yet. With Cataclysm, I’m hoping to be able to kick some life into a version of the map viewer or some such, since I’d rather not have to jump ahead or try to work around disguising all manner of crevices or volcanos or whatever.

Well…she is kind of a tart. Running around with a bare midrif and always flashing the top of her thigh through the top of her skirt. If the sandal fits…wear it.

This makes me wonder if that bandit leader are just short-sighted or actually underestimate the situation.

And he called Te’len a tart! *going into metamorphosis*

Just genius ! I love it

But, Why Hani keeps her left shoulder in the right hand ? I thought it’s the right shoulder was hurt previously (#225) ?

Another : Don’t you think the Te’s dress looks like a face (in frame 6 : Blue eyes, yellow smile …) ? XD

It’s really to mimic a sling, of sorts – the injury is on her right shoulder, so she needs to try to keep that shoulder still and avoid putting weight on it to let it rest. Holding on to her left shoulder with her right hand effectively both prevents her right shoulder from moving much, as well as lets her use her good left shoulder to carry some of the weight of her right arm.

As for Te’len’s tunic.. I’m pretty sure Blizzard intended for it to be an owl motif, hence the blue “eyes”, the yellow/gold-ish “eyebrows” above them, and the golden “beak” in between.

have they noticed thats vancleefs body by any chance?

  18. October 31, 2010 at 21:06

Yeah, like the Defias are one and all intimately familiar with the top of Van Cleef’s head, so they can all instantly recognize him by it. Suure, uh huh.

Also, the most distinctive and readily recognized bit of his usual apparel — his cloak — is long gone.

Look at the body, guys. It’ll keep you alive… well, maybe not.

Just noticed but Hani’s arm is hurt on one side but she holds the other one? Am I just reading it wrong?

    • 35 Nhani

She’s holding on to the uninjured shoulder, yes. The thing is that arms both actually weigh a fair bit, and have a tendency to move along with your motions. Try walking and holding your arm and shoulder perfectly still – it’s actually really difficult.

So what she’s doing is holding on to her uninjured shoulder basically to make a sort of improvised sling – it helps both offload the weight from the injured shoulder and keeps it still so it’ll have an easier time healing.

At the end of the day, I couldn’t see her letting the injured arm just hang loosely without something to help carry the weight – it’d be like standing on an injured foot.
