#235 – “Defias Stress Bandit”

Suppose they’re not all that familiar with druids, eh?

I know some people were really looking forward to seeing Edwin applied as a bludgeon – sorry, not happening. This really came out of that I had initially intended to have Te’len directly partake in a battle before Edwin VanCleef – ultimately, that battle shifted to being resolved by means of cannon which meant that I lost what felt like a significant enough step on her character journey. So, I figured I could catch up on that here.

“You talkin’ to me? You talkin’ to me? You talkin’ to ME? Then who the hell else are you talkin’ to? You talkin’ to me? Well I’m the only druid here.” *Nature’s Grasp*

The 2nd panel is great. Hani’s expression is priceless. It’s just so perfect. xD

Te’len just did a win rage XD.
Never piss of a druid :P its just bad outcome for ye.
And as allready stated, yes, win expression at “T-the boss?!”

He should have stayed in bed ^^

“Im not having my corpse dragged around!” *flee* :D

page with alot of win :) again an ageing moment for Te’len, and shows her potenciel, maybe even to herself. I do like Hanis expression when Te is going nuts. Its like “Well well well, what have we here”

See…this is what happens when you get pushed too far. Besides, those humans made a VERY bad mistake…when a woman cares about her appearance, the absolute, ABSOLUTE last thing you do is call her a tart…

…they found out the hard way.

Loving Hani’s expression though. Kind of like “Oh, what’s this…? Hm…well guess I won’t need to do much then…”

    Next page should be interesting…

Finally! Te’Len, go for it! ^^

  10. November 1, 2010 at 19:16

Te’len is enrolled in Hani’s school of death, you can clearly see she has the killer instinct upgrade now.

Wow… I didnot see that coming from Te’len…

On another note though. I hate to nitpick. But how did he get out of those roots all of a sudden?

Great page though! I want moar of Te’len being pissed off. Druids really are extremely powerfull when they want to be. You go Druids!

“But how did he get out of those roots all of a sudden?”

This is a good, yet somewhat rethorical question. I like to think he just got the roots well-lubricated while at the same time providing some excelent manure for the land. The roots recognise a friend of the land by the quality of his gifts, you see.

*nods sagely* Surely, it must have been something like this.

If I recall, there was a while there where roots’ own damage could break the snare. We’ree go with that. :D

Te’len lets him go, actually – you can see her making a gesture of opening her fist while scoffing and looking wayside.

Him falling on his back when the roots release him mark the event quite well, as they stop “lifting him into the air”.

Oh, so she does. My monitor is getting old and starting to dim, I think. I usually have a hard time seeing things in the backround of BtT. :/ tbh, the resolution of the comic is on the low side, at least for my little 17″ window. I’m going to get a new one soonish, but you know it goes.

        • 22 Nhani
          November 2, 2010 at 01:44

I pretty much picked the resolution based on the visual theme I use – the images can’t really be that much wider than 650 pixels (which is what they currently are) before it starts clipping into the sidebar.

I think pretty much all web browsers worth using nowadays have a zoom feature, at least. Won’t improve the resolution, but it’ll make the pixels bigger.

          • 23 LolDrood
            November 2, 2010 at 05:14

This is true, zoom helps a little. I think a lot of this will be solved with my newer, larger monitor, just as soon as the pixel fairy brings me one. :D
I don’t pretend to know anything about web coding, and I’m not trying to tell you your job, alls I can tell you is what I see.

And I see a druid who needs herself a bubble bath, and some variety of chocolate. :D
Unless nelfs are allergic to chocolate.
Then she can have whatever she wants, I dunno.

I’ve been having the same problem, actually. The comic is quite small so it’s sometimes a bit hard to catch all the cool little details you put into each pane, so I often end up missing things until I read the comments where someone might point stuff out. I’m sure that while you render it’s at a much higher resolution, and then you have to shrink it so that it fits on the site. Is it possible to make it so when we click on the comic image it gives us a higher resolution jpeg so we can see the details better? =) Love your work!

              November 7, 2010 at 20:31

Technically? Yes. Practically? Higher resolution means more visible details which means more work, since suddenly things that you can work around and hide becomes painfully visible.

I might try, but it’d have to happen when I have more time free to try and scale up the entire template I have without excessive blurring, while still making sure it shrinks fairly well, as well as decide on what font sizes to use.

Now I see why druids are so afraid of losing themselves to their beastial forms – being called “tree-hugger” or “nature lover” all the time must be frustrating. ^^

Not a worry with Boomkin. We know we’re badass. No need to show the rest of Azeroth constantly.

        November 2, 2010 at 06:52

        Boomkins? Badass? Psh…

Boomkins look like bloated, malformed offspring of an unholy union between a chicken and an ape, and sound like screeching metal in the hull of a sinking ship. They’re more comedic relief than anything. I would never spec my druid into that.

        Except for a joke, maybe.

Sorry, I started off WoW with a Forsaken Warlock. Being use to riding through the Cleft of Shadows astride a horse made of darkness and fire, my definition of ‘badass’ may differ a little from yours. ‘;..;’

My first char was a Warrior. Got bored n moved on to Hunter, Stuck with till 45 then went to Rogue. loved it but got bored too quickly. Had a Lock for all of 10 mins after my first demon, said “MEH Just like a hunter,” and drop-kicked it away. I pretty much have gone thru all the classes except Pally. Druid, Shaman, and DK are the only ones I’ve actually stuck to.

Also, can your horse made of darkness and fire stomp on a target while you poke at it with spells till its twitching on the ground? No? Didn’t think so. You get demons, sure, but I get three trees that do the same damage as me.

WHOA didnt see that comin. Way to go Te! Flex them druish muscles!

  14. November 2, 2010 at 11:53

Is it just me, or does Hani look like she’s secretly enjoying this performance? And Te…wow. Um…okayyyy…remind me never to tick off a Nelf druid! Um…well, then again, you don’t see many orcs in the Cenarian Circle, so…well…uh…

Te’len really well demonstrates the wrath of nature… for her sake that is.
Great page! The recognition part was exactly as I hoped it to be =).
    … The Boss ..? Brilliant!~

Once again we see that Te hates when someone has got something bad to say about her look.
Don’t think she’ll be embarrased this time, tho.

Sorry to derail the discussion a bit from the comic, I was just seeking some thoughts on an ideea I had regarding also the Cataclysm and some other stuff, mostly night elf related and was wondering if anyone would like to read it and comment? Here or on the forums, doesn’t matter, I just feel that I wrote too much there and have scared people from reading it since many people on the forums don’t like to read that wall of text, even if it’s separated in paragraphs :S

I should have put it on the Story forums but thought that since it’s only an ideea it might not “fit in”.

Here’s the link to the european forums:

Thank you and sorry once again for derailing the discussion on the comic :)
