Yeah, I totally went there.
Alright alright, uhm.. when I first accepted that I couldn’t go past Elwynn Forest without in the least mentioning Hogger, I found myself pondering how I might go about doing that. The two obvious methods either involves making him the low level elite he is, or beefing him up to the mass slayer of player characters that statistics/his legend make him – I found that neither of these approaches really interested me, nor felt like they’d have a point in the narrative. So I was left with trying to find another way – something interesting, something that would catch people off guard and in the least I would find funny.
In the end, it actually was quite simple: rather than making Hogger into the low level elite that the game claims he is, or making him into the invincible, murderous monster that his legend claims he is, I’d make him into what he actually is:
A Legend.

I picked the two pages a week schedule because it seemed like a reasonable compromise between keeping a steady progress and me getting pages done in proper time. Seeing how there’s still delays and some missed days, I don’t think I could really keep up with a tighter schedule – not when I have other things to do and would still like to have spare time for myself.

Anyway, great solution! More and more I get the feeling that Rei is a rogue, capable of relying on quick wits and clever words to resolve issues. If only there were really an option for that in WoW.

I cant wait thill season 30 when someone goes “So ye heard that THE ASHBRINGER is in the nearby crypt” and Tiny just goes “Oh goddess not this again…”
Who knows how many legends she has sparked, she is like the Dark wanderer from Diablo 2, just… instead of causeing actuel monsters to spawn were she walks, people just -THINK- that some monsters spawn :P
That leads to the question: How did you actually know Hogger was Hogger when you killed him with your lvl 10 human pala? It’s not like gnolls can speak in any fashion that you understand and even if they did, how could you be certain that Hogger was a name? “Me be Hogger, Me slash you!” might as well mean “I’m a treehugger, I’ll kill you filthy bastards” or anything of the sort.
In other words, Hogger is just the ugliest, fattest and marginally biggest gnoll in the area.

Ehrm, I would advise you to reread the page repeatedly until you grasp it. The answer to your question is right there.
Much like what Yerdiss says – a mere Gnoll can be slain, but an idea? Not so much. Consider Tommy Joe’s attempt at dealing with the beast in #137. It points out the problem.
Now after reading this.. How many of you dares looking into the mirror at night and say “Hogger” three times in a row?

Hogger should be the final boss of Cataclysm. Death Knight Hogger, and REALLY pissed off.
And server first DK Hogger kill will unlock Nightmare Mode on the server. For everyone.
Really brilliant! did indeed never expected that one! but i think Tiny will have to deal with it one day, couse stories have a tendecy to write themselves, and in a world like WoW, who knows??

Lol@ the hogger thing. I wanted to see Hani and the others fight him too but am still good with this, caught me by surprise to be honest. Oh and i love what u did with the orangey panes while you were doing the flashbacks.
Oh and i might use your style when making night elven eyes for my comic. It somehow really makes it look better and at least it creates the option for u to manipulate the char to look at the place u want them too rather than turning their head and stuff. Learned quite a bit while editing ur chars. Thanks Nhani =]
So Hogger is just a gnoll, like any other gnoll, only more stronger then the avarage gnoll – did I say he’s a gnoll? ;P
This has a point to it really – people literally farm Hogger in the game, so actually pretending that the strongest and most well-equipped gnoll in Elwynn is the fearful Hogger should fool anyone if it was real – and people who keep dragging back a gnoll’s head on a everyday basis for a quest reward would soon make the questgiver think “None of these heads can’t be Hogger’s if he’d be brought down that easily”, and thus we end up where our little band of friends are.
But…if that wasn’t Hogger…then my poor, shredded warlock was just killed by…a big gnoll?
How…embarrassing. (Hangs head in shame and shuffles off to the tavern to get drunk.)
