#201 – “I Spy, You Spy”

I was suggested that we should atleast have one stop by Delgren before jumping back to the mines, so thus this page. I generally resent making a page entirely out of a dialogue between two nonposeables since their ability to act and emote is significantly reduced compared to poseable models, but occasionally the situation demands.

I’m hoping to have the time to construct enough of the mines by sunday so we can get back on track; still have a bit left before they’re done, and I’d love to get them over with.

After much consideration, I proclaim: “First”. Oh, I feel all giddy now!

I may add that this page is worth it. Regardless the fact that the models are non-poseable, the page does them well. The dialog delves both into their respective personalities, as well as promising an avenue of exposure for the story background. I can ‘feel’ that the ears of this kind night elf will end up picking up some interesting facts!

Storywise, the interval feels solid and the return to the Deadmines now would be nicely timed. Artist-wise, I hope your extraction-problems of the boat aren’t too much of a problem. Though then again, even if any view on the boat would be a grand one, the story itself should not be harmed if it is skipped or altered. The only reason we readers know of it in the first place, is because we’ve seen it elsewhere :P

However you slice it, Delgren’s expression in panel 3 three is utter win xD

It’s an interesting contrast between the two characters: I like Delgren personally. Teronis and Raene eh? ;o Curious she would mention Foonmall. *holds her chin and glances off to the side*

Despite their limited poseability, you did a great job getting convincing “acting” out of these two, Nhani. I only wish a few more details of Hani’s past were included, but I suppose you’ll get to that eventually.

Also, /cheer for a new voter incentive!

Actually, she has exported the models into a 3D program, giving them a lot more flexibility and able to be posed how she wants them instead of using WoW Model Viewer :-)

I’m aware of that, but the unaltered imported models still do not feature the advanced morph points and skeletons that the core character models do. That’s what I was referring to.

Hmmmm, why would Delgren need the services of Chester Arthur, the 21st President?

Interesting plot thickery that I wasn’t expecting. I’m hoping for a Genuine Murloc Infiltration Suit appearance. Ahh-RULULULULULU!!!

    No? Aw. :(

To be honest the first timed I looked at this page wanted to ask you if you made a new model for the human face, only after reading under I realised you didn’t, but still for what you had it looks quite good.
And Bathule(that’s his name right?) has a mustache, in general people with beards and mustaches have not so pronounced expressions.

It’s nice to see Raene’s reaction to Hani’s disappearance and the responsibility she feels for losing that sentinel you find who was killed by those Murlocs, forgot his name…

Makes you wonder what Hani did to be kicked out of the Sentinels and even more, why does Raene care so much about this maverick warrior..?

If you mean Teronis, as far as I know he wasn’t a Sentinel; rather he was a close and longtime friend of Raene who wanted to help the Sentinels (and likely, by extension, Raene) out. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive the attempt – neither in Beyond the Tree nor in World of Warcraft proper.

He keeps his ears open. (snicker) How many directions can you take that comment? Hehehehe!

To keep your ears open… I know you can keep your eyes open… but ears… well… Sounds kinda weird…
Why do I keep putting three dots after each sentence…

Hmm… I believe the saying our Kaldorei friend was looking for is “keep an ear to the ground,” but then I suppose Common isn’t his first language. :D
They are uncommonly large ears, so he should be able to hear a fair amount.

Despite the limited options you had, it looks great :D I love Delgren’s expression in the third panel.
Oh, by the by, in ‘i spy, you spy’, the letter i should be written in capitals: ‘I spy, you spy’.
Anyhow, love the comic, can’t wait to see the next one :D

    Kind regards,

It actually already is; if you look at the latest updates list (or in the image itself), the I is capitalized (as is the Y, actually, for reasons of symmetry). The reason it appears in lower case on the very top is because the theme I’m using forces lower case on post titles for the post header.

It’s a little bit of a bother sometimes because some titles tend to look better with the intended capitalization, but no other theme had enough space for a full page while still allowing an image header and not being utterly blinding with bright colours, so I’ll live with it.
